Contact form
If you contact HoppyGeek through the contact form, I may collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, subject and message. This information is used only to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to follow up on business or collaboration discussions.
Contact form submissions are stored in the website database and may also be delivered by email. They are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the enquiry, any resulting correspondence, or legitimate administrative or legal purposes.
The legal basis is normally legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Where your message relates to a possible agreement or collaboration, processing may also be necessary to take steps before entering into a contract.
Email updates / Brew Notes
If you subscribe to HoppyGeek Brew Notes, your email address and information related to your subscription are used to send you the updates you requested.
Subscription is based on your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in the emails.
HoppyGeek uses MailPoet to manage email subscriptions and newsletters.
Analytics
HoppyGeek uses Google Analytics to understand how the website is used, such as which pages are visited and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics is activated only after you have given the required consent.
You can change or withdraw your consent through the cookie settings on the website.
Cookies and similar technologies
HoppyGeek uses cookies and similar technologies where necessary for the website to function. Optional technologies, such as analytics or external media that require consent, are not activated until you make a choice where consent is required.
The cookie settings allow you to accept or reject optional purposes and to change your choice later.
Embedded content
Some articles may contain embedded content from third-party services, particularly HoppyGeek videos hosted on YouTube.
Embedded services may receive information such as your IP address and information about your interaction with the embedded content. Where required, third-party content is blocked until you have given the relevant consent.
Where practical, HoppyGeek uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embedding mode.
Hosting and technical logs
Website hosting and security
HoppyGeek is hosted by Domeneshop in Norway. Like most web hosting services, the server may process technical information such as IP addresses, request logs, timestamps and browser information for operating, securing and troubleshooting the website.
Such processing is limited to what is necessary for operating and protecting the website.
Who receives your information
Personal information is only shared with service providers where this is necessary to operate the website or provide a service you have requested. Depending on which services are enabled, this may include the website host, email delivery provider, analytics provider or embedded-content provider.
I do not sell your personal information.
International data transfers
Some service providers used by HoppyGeek may process personal information outside Norway or the EEA. Where personal information is transferred outside the EEA, the transfer must be based on an applicable legal transfer mechanism.
Data retention
Personal information is kept only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or where retention is required for legitimate administrative or legal reasons.
Contact form submissions are normally deleted within 12 months after the last correspondence, unless the correspondence relates to an ongoing collaboration, agreement, legal obligation or dispute that requires longer retention.
Newsletter subscription information is retained while you remain subscribed. Information necessary to document or administer your subscription may be retained after unsubscribing where reasonably necessary.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, correction or deletion of information, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to certain processing.
Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the website, its services or applicable requirements change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
